bio
A Coloratura with Spirit
For as long as she could remember, Angela has had a desire to make others smile with her talents. While attending elementary school in Wiesbaden, Germany Angela tended to get into trouble a bit more than the average student. It was in a meeting with the headmistress that Angela was asked why she misbehaved so often. Her answer was that she felt she did not get enough attention from others and that she had too much energy to sit still. In an effort to channel Angela's energy into a productive direction, the headmistress suggested auditioning for the schools traveling childrens chorus. She did just that and was immediately cast as Gretel in their abridged production of The Sound of Music. From this, a musical monster was born.As time went on, Angela grew more and more enamored with performing. She auditioned for every musical and straight play during her years in the middle and high schools and was cast in a leading role for each production. Her extensive involvement with the Drama Club and other theater companies paved the way to receiving numerous merit-based scholarships to pursue a career in musical theatre. She was accepted to many universities and chose to attend the University at Albany to obtain a well-rounded education in many subjects. While attending SUNY Albany, Angela became one of few Vocal Performance majors at the school. For the first time, she was introduced to the world of art songs and operatic literature by her professors and voice teacher, Frances Pallozzi-Wittmann. Soon after beginning her studies Angela discovered her innate ability to sing well above the staff with ease. From this point on, her focus changed from studying musical theatre rep to that of opera and classical choral pieces. Her premiere solo performance was singing Franz Schubert's Miriams Song of Triumph with the University Chorale and was soon after asked to sing Gabriel Faures Requiem. After graduation, Angela pursued further training and outlets for performing. She has had the pleasure to sing with companies such as the Taconic Opera Company, Bronx Opera, The MUSE Ensemble, New York Opera Forum and Opera Orchestra of New York for various opera productions including Les Contes DHoffmann, Dido & Aeneas, Gustov Holst's Savitri, Die Fledermaus, Die Zauberflöte and Dom Sebastien featuring world renouned Mezzo Soprano Vessalina Kasarova. Most recently, Angela was seen as the troubled Governess in OU Opera Theatre's producition of Turn of the Screw.
